Bugema University Hosts Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA) Review Visit

Bugema University hosted a review visit by the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA) on 9th December 2025. The visit reflected the University’s continued commitment to quality education, accountability, and mission-based growth within the Adventist system of higher education. It was a key step in ensuring that the University meets international and denominational standards in teaching, administration, and spiritual life.

The AAA review focused on assessing major academic and administrative areas of the University. The aim among others was to confirm alignment with Bugema University’s mission, philosophy, and objectives. The process allowed the University to reflect on its progress, identify strengths, and note areas for improvement. Several areas were reviewed such as institutional history and mission, spiritual development, governance and administration, financial management, academic programs, student services, and physical facilities.

The review of history, philosophy, mission and objectives, programs of study, academic policies and records, and public relations and external constituencies was coordinated by Mr. Ronald Otieno Okoth. This demonstrated the University’s structured approach to academic planning and institutional management. Reviews related to spiritual development, service and witnessing, governance and administration, finances and financial structure, and library and resource centers were overseen by Dr. Oloo Stephen, highlighting the University’s commitment to holistic education, effective leadership, and responsible resource management.

The AAA team also examined faculty and staff affairs, student services, physical plant and facilities, and pastoral and theological education. These areas were coordinated by Mr. Mpima Gershom. The review focused on staff capacity, student support systems, learning environments, and the quality of ministerial training in line with Adventist values.

The University Administration welcomed the AAA review as a constructive and developmental exercise. Bugema University reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, continuous improvement, and spiritual growth. This commitment is guided by the University’s mission to provide Christ-centered education for service to the Church and society.

As Bugema University continues to grow, reviews such as the AAA visit strengthen its focus on quality assurance and accountability. The University remains dedicated to advancing both academic and spiritual goals. It continues to foster an environment that promotes excellence, integrity, and service.
